Hog hunting is a popular sport in many parts of the United States. They are an exhilierating animal to hunt, with large tusks, huge bodies, and surprising intelligence. The wild boar can have tusks as long as nine inches! This would make a great trophy for any hunter!

McKenna Outfitters will be able to help you in planning your next trip!

Wild hog hunting is one of the fastest growing hunting sports in the United States. Most states, Mississippi included, consider wild hogs a nuisance and they have no season, so it hog season is open all year!

Hunting wild boar is a little different than hunting other big game. A hog has very few natural predators. Because of this they are quite the "King" of their domain and are for the most part at the top of the food chain in their natural surroundings.

They carry themselves with more dominance, and bearing than a deer. Hogs do not move with the fluid motion or stealthy steps of a deer. And they don't pay close attention to every sound and movement as most deer do. Don't take this for ignorance or clumsiness; they are extremely intelligent.

Most of the time they are nocturnal, same as deer, but for completely different reasons. A hog doesn't have sweat glands like we do and can't cool off very easily. Early mornings and late evenings are the best times to hunt them.

The best advice we can offer you is to get down here to McKenna Ranch and start hunting them. Once you spend a little time with our guides, you will be bagging the best BBQ you've ever had!
